Crankcase What is a block? Definition : One of the components comprising an engine. Simply put, a block refers to an engine’s body. Role : Engine blocks of various shapes serve as the base of engine operation. Type of blocks 2-ST (Large-sized engine) BED PLATE : Placed on the lower part of a 2-ST engine, a BED Plate serves as the foundation of the engine. CYL’FRAME : Placed on the upper part of a 2-ST engine, a SCYL’FRAME enables the actual operation of the engine. FRAME BOX : A FRAME BOX is a kind of coupling that is placed at the BED and FRAME BOX. 4-ST (Small-sized engine) Unlike a 2-ST engine, a 4-ST engine is comprised of a single frame, which plays the roles of a 2-ST engine’s BED and F/BOX, as well as C/FRAME.
