Melcross resins are the Amino Resins (Melamine resin) for Paint and Coatings.These paint resins are applied in Coil coating, Can coating, Automobile coating, the resins are compatible with a wide range of alkyd or acrylic resins because the combination produces films having excellent properties. The MELCROSS resins also have better heat stability and alkali resistance, and they are preferred for applications requiring exterior exposure, such as automotive primers and topcoats, coil coating, appliance, container, general metal and wood coatings. Introduction This resin shows rapid cure combined with very good enamel package stability, limited compatibility with acrylic resins. Melcross-22 resin is soluble in Alcohols, Ketones, Esters, and Aromatic hydrocarbons completely but limittled in Aliphatic hydrocarbons, insoluble in water. This resin has good compatibility with Alkyd resins and Polyester resins for a wide range of general industrial stoving finishes like metal decorating, can and coil coating formulations. Introduction Melcross-22 Crosslinking agent is a commercial grade of normal butylated melamine formaldehyde resin with a medium degree of alkylation, a medium methylol content, low imino functionality , a relatively low to medium molecular weight and viscosity. Melcross-22 provides very good film hardness, adhesion, gloss, chemical resistance, water resistance, better intercoat adhesion properties. Melcross-22 melamine resin is a usefull crosslinking polymer for the other polymer resins which containing hydroxyl, amide and to some extent, carboxyl functional groups, such as alkyd, polyester or acrylic resins. And has a high tendency for self condensation in a range of backbone polymers , providing films with very good flow, gloss and adhesion properties. A low acid number in an alkyd or acrylic resin is sufficient. The cure reaction can be additionally catalyzed with weak organic or inorganic acids such as maleic, citric, phosphoric, or alkyl phosphoric acids, low levels of para toluene sulfonic acid catalyst. Acid catalyzed coatings may be cured as low as 110-150 ° C for 15-20 minutes. To control the stability, you can use tertiary amins for neutralization and PH adjustment.
