Description SG-540 is a highly efficient rheological additive supplied as a soft paste dispersed in xylene. It is designed for giving excellent anti-settling in solvent-based industrial coatings without significant viscosity increase. Advantages Excellent anti-settling properties and prevention of hard caking in can Easily dispersible using conventional dispersion devices such as high-speed mixers as well as high shear sand, pebbel and roller mills No significant viscosity increase under normal condition Suitable for high solid coatings and marine coatings Physical Properties Apperance : Translucent yellowish soft paste Non-Volatiles : 39 ~ 41% Specific Gravity : 0.86 ~ 0.90 Solvent : Xylene Incorporation High shear conditions and heat (30~60°C) are both required for proper activation and dispersion of SG-540, but preferable to increase the temperature to minimum 45°C for excellent performance of industrial coatings. It should be added during the dispersion stage, preferably pre-mixed in vehicle before the addition of other mill base components. Recommended Levels The typical addition level will vary depending on the type of coatings formulation. Recommended amount is 0.5 ~ 0.8% based on total formulation weight. In the case of industrial coatings with pigments having high specific gravity, the use of higher level of SG-540 is highly required. Storage SG-540 should be stored in the tightly closed original container in a cool and dry place at 5 ~ 30°C. Avoid exposure to heat source and direct sunlight. Under recommended storage condition, SG-540 may be stored up to 12 months. Packaging 16 Kgs in tin can, 170 Kgs in drum.
