Select a rigid machine with enough horsepower to maintain the cutting speed where PCD tools perform best. PCD tools are very effective even when run at conventional carbide speeds. Use PCBN tools for machining ferrous metals of Rc 45 hardness or higher and high-temperature alloys with Rc 35 or higher . Select a rigid machine with enough horsepower to take advantage of the production potential PCBN cutting tools offer. Use negative-rake tools, the largest lead angle, and cutting fluids whenever possible.
