PLATFORM FLEXIBILITY The BRITE Star laser designator/rangefinder, thermal and visual imaging system was specifically designed for aircraft and shipborne platforms. PAYLOAD COMBINATION Incorporating FLIR's high-resolution 3-5 micron InSb focal plane array-based IR imager with a high-resolution CCD TV camera and laser designator/rangefinder, the BRITE Star provides support to a variety of imaging and targeting mission profiles. LASER DESIGNATOR/RANGEFINDER BRITE Star's laser designator is fully compatible with all Band I and Triservice PRF and PIM codes, and will designate for either the platform on which it resides, or for remote platforms. Switch to rangefinder mode, and the eye-safe laser provides accurate range-to-target information. Multiple capabilities include laser/pulse combination or designate only. AUTOMATIC BORESIGHT CAPABILITY BRITE Star's integral boresight module automatically aligns the thermal imager and TV sensors to the centroid of the laser spot. The function is totally automatic and can be accomplished with the touch of a button. VERSATILE MOUNTING CONFIGURATIONS BRITE Star is engineered to be easily configured for inverted or upright mounting on aircraft and surface platforms.
