A polymer in dispersion (or latex) is composed of elementary polymer particles suspendrd in water. During the phase of splay-drying, these elementary particles, initially mea-suring approximately 2 microns, will group together to form larger spherical particles, measuring about 80 to 100 microns. These particles are coated on their surface by an inorganic anti-caking powder. In this way, a dry polymer powder is obtained, that can be poured and stored in bags, big-bags or silos. When this powder is mixed with water or a cement- or plaster-based mortar, it redis-perses. The elementary particles, measuring 2 microns, are reformed in a state equivalent to the original latex.
