As shown in table 1, the sources of Hg are classified into charcoal power plants(32.5), garbage incineration units (MWC, 18.6) and medical waste incineration unit(10.1)In case of a charcoal power plant, a large amount of fine charcoal power (max 100,000g AC/g Hg) is sprayed to eliminate a very small amount of Hg(1 to 10g/dscm). Of course, the costs for such processing is quite high, too. Also, it has been reported that the charcoal power plants located in the coastal areas generate a large amount of Hg that causes mutation of fish in the sea. The EPA regards the problems of Hg as serious as car emissions, NOx and SOx. In 2007, they began to regulate Hg and now they are preparing for suppression of production of Hg containing products and support for development of Hg removal facilities.When heavy metal such as Br, Cr, Cu, Ni and Zn is burned in the incinerator, all the particles discharged are successfully removed by a sprayo r bag filter. However, in case of Hg, since it evaporates at temperature of 80 degrees, they don’t form particles that can be easily removed like other heavy metal.
