■ DESCRIPTION OF PRINCIPLE

In the dissolved air floatation systems part of the treated water is recycled.
The air-water mixture is pressurized in the pump, resulting in the dissolving of the air in water.(Henry's law)
Depressurization in special devices results in the formation of micro size air bubbles.
The air bubbles adhere to particles, thus giving them sufficient buoyancy to float rapidly to the surface in the floatation unit.
The floatation unit incorporates a large separation area in a small volume due to the use of parallel plate technology. Stoke's law is used to calculate the rising, velocity of particles. This velocity together with the flow rate determine the required separation area. In plate separators, plates are put on top of each other to create a large separation area in a small volume.
Laminar flow is maintained between the plates resulting in predictable performance.
A combination of a screen and our dissolved air floatation unit can result in BOD removals up to 60% and free fat removal of over 90%. Exact reductions are dependent on degree of Pollution and wastewater origin.
A combination of screening, flocculation and floatation can result in BOD removals of over 90% and fat removals of 90%.
