Purpose

Evaluate the treatment effect of KCL 990?, a thermo massage treatment machine for those suffering from abnormalities of the meibomian glands.

Results: Survey questionnaire on OSDI symptoms, tear osmotic pressure, and tear film destruction time all meaningfully improved a week after treatment and this improvement meaningfully continued up to a month after treatment (p<0.01). Objective examination of the time it takes for tear film to be destroyed also showed meaningful improvement a month after treatment (p<0.01).

Conclusion

Thermo massage treatment using KCL 990? for patients suffering from xerophthalmia and abnormalities of the meibomian glands not only subjectively improved the xerophthalmia symptoms but also functionally improved the tear film and eyeball surface. Therefore, it is a convenient and effective treatment method.
