Function: Herba Sedi is a fresh or dry whole plant of Sedum sarmentosum Bunge. Included in the 2005 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, it has the effect of clearing away dampness and heat and detoxifying, used for damp-heat jaundice, unfavorable urination, carbuncle sores and ulcers. "Compendium of Materia Medica Collection" said its "elimination of carbuncles, inguinal bubo, jaundice, tinea throat". Scholars at home and abroad have isolated a variety of chemical constituents from Herba Sedi, including saponins, flavonoids, alkaloids, triterpenoids and so on. Pharmacological tests showed that Herba Sedi had the functions of liver protection, immunosuppression and antimicrobial activity. At present, it is used in acute and chronic hepatitis, such as Herba Sedi tablets, Herba Sedi Granules and Herba Sedi Compound Preparations.
