CrucialTec develops heartbeat-measuring fingerprint verification

Mobile bio-verification firm CrucialTec has developed a biometric verification system recognizing fingerprints and heartbeats at the same time, company officials said Tuesday.

The new system Anti-Fake BTP is a combination of the company’s representative product Biometric TrackPad, a fingerprint recognition sensor, and a heartbeat rate monitoring system to block fake fingerprints.

Unlike common optical fingerprint scanners, Anti-Fake BTP is designed to prevent fake fingerprint use by only recognizing human fingers circulating blood.

With the unique feature of scanning a fingerprint while measuring the heartbeat, the new sensor is a much-needed high security system to prevent hackers and security breaches in financial tech operations, such as through mobile payments.

Anti-Fake BTP is already greatly anticipated at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and is expected to be commercially distributed later this year, according to CrucialTec officials.

Meanwhile, the company plans to incorporate other vital signals to strengthen security such as bioelectrical impedance analysis, an estimation of body composition.
