LG Innotek unveils upgraded wireless charging modulesMadeinkoreablog
Korean electric component maker LG Innotek has unveiled its new wireless charging modules with a charging speed that is three times as fast as its conventional peers.
LG Innotek’s new modules are capable of delivering 15 watts of output power, the same as wired charging modules. But they can be charged three times faster than existing 5-watt wireless charging modules.
The company said it only takes 30 minutes to charge an empty battery up to 50 percent.
LG Innotek’s latest modules are also compatible with all smartphone brands, regardless of the output power of the wireless charger pads used.
An increasing number of devices have recently been deploying wireless smartphone charging systems, as more and more wireless chargers are being used in places such as offices, retail stores and coffee shops.
LG Innotek said it is currently working with global power chipset companies to develop and supply wireless chargers to global automakers.
The company, an affiliate of LG Group, previously supplied wireless power-receiving modules to smartphone makers such as LG Electronics, Motorola, and Kyosera. Google’s Nexus 4, released in 2012, also used LG Innotek’s power receivers.
