HYGIENE OF FOOD- Taconic products comply with the requirements of the United States FDA regulation 21 CFR 177.1550 - All premium,standard and mechanical grade PTFE glass products carry USDA approval for direct contact with food. - Taconic PTFE coated glass fabric is also approved for direct food contact by the National Sanitation Foundation(NSF) SPLICING(JOINT) INFORMATION Belt with heat sealed overlap or seamless splices are commonly called endless belts. In addition, a variety of mechanical splices, such as metal alligator and clipper laces, or PEEK spiral and smart loop(Bullnose) splices, are available. KINDS OF SPLICE Scarf splice- Standard method of splice is 1"width with 90deg & 80deg. This type can have fabric reinforcement at backside. Standard seamless belts are used with 8103AS & 8143AS. Overlap splice- Standard method of splice is 1"width with 90deg & 80deg. Large overlaps are stronger but much less flexible, so overlap width also depends on the pulley diameter. And lower angle of splices are slightly stronger and more flexible especially when running on small diameter pulleys. Butt Splice- Standard method of splice is 1"width with 90deg & 80deg. The thickness of reinforcing fabric is decided by strength of splice and user's request. Two ply Laminated belt- Two ply belts allow a continuous thickness by staggering the splice. Saw tooth wave splice- Standard method of splice is with 90deg. Skived PTFE Film is added to the splice top side to make them stronger and smooth. Standard reinforcement fabric is Kevlar fabric at backside PEEK splice- This PEEK spiral splice allows fully air flow to the belt for the customer. Standard end reinforcement with 7305K or 7305KAS does get sewn. This splice can be used for open mesh belt and easy jointing the splice. Bull nose(smart loop) splice- This splice allows fully air flow same as PEEK splice. There is no need of end reinforcement,smart loop is made of kevlar mesh. This splice is similar to the PEEK splice. Need only sewing. This splice is endurable against high speed but slightly difficult to joint. Heavy duty fabric splice- This splice is nonmetalic splice.Standard end reinforcement is with Kevlar fabric. This type belt is often employed in microwave ovens and equipment. Alligator splice- Mechanical splices used where an endless belt is not possible for installation. This splice is made with metal alligator lacing through which a pin is placed to complete the splice.This provides a belt which can be put together without taking the machine apart.
