Introduction

When we saw a foreign tourist holding imported corn or pop corn rice or a local tourist passing a place selling souvenirs with an attitude of indifference, I felt the need for a tourism product that will appeal to people of all ages and both sexes including Koreans and foreigners. Therefore, we have produced DMZ Paju Jangdan Soybean Chocolate and DMZ Paju Bean Chocolate that everyone can buy and eat as well as being a souvenir that everyone can take home. Also, DMZ Paju Jangdan Soybean Chocolate and DMZ Paju Bean Chocolate, which is made of processed Paju Jangdan Soybean (a black soybean, white soybean), has been developed to let people know the superiority of Jangdan Soybean, a specialty of Paju, which is delicious and good for your health.

Our company was established on April 27, 2011. Our product was selected as an excellent product at the DMZ Tourism Souvenir Competition in Gyunggido in June, 2009 and displayed at Imjingak in Paju. The creativity and the quality of our product was recognized at the competition as being ‘the ideal product among functional agricultural products.” The event was sponsored by the Rural Development Administration in August, 2011 and received an award for excellence (Award of Rural Development Administration) and was then displayed at the COEX. In addition, we received a special award (Korea Women’s Association of Venture Award) at the all states’ Business Plan Competition sponsored by Sungkyunkwan University in March, 2010. We received a gold prize and patent director award by participating in the Korea International Women’s Invention Exposition which was sponsored by the Korea Women Invention Association and the Industrial Property Office on May 6th to 9th, 2010. Also, we received the third prize at the 11th Kyunggido Excellent Tourism Souvenir Competition on June 30th, 2010 and DMZ Paju Jangdan Soybean Chocolate is presently in the process of seeking a patent.
