Product Brown Rice Nurungji - Brown Rice Nurungji that maintains the rice embryo
Throughout the world, Korea is the only nation, among those rice-eating races, where people eat
Nurungji.
Nurungji originates from the Korean traditional method of cooking rice in which rice is cooked
using a rice pot made of cast iron. Nurungji is the dark brown crust formed at the bottom of the pot
after the rice is cooked. Koreans boil and eat Nurungji ( called Soongyoong after eating). In
Nurungji, water-soluble sugar, amino acid and oligosaccharide are combined, providing a
delicate taste. Then, the starch of rice is to be dissolved finely, a process that is helpful for
digestion and absorption.
In Dong-eui-bo-gam, a representative traditional medical book in Korea, Nurungji is called Oryza
sativa L. The book recommends that Nurungji should be boiled down and used as a drinkable
medicine whenever necessary. The book also records that when a person suffers from
Dysphagia, a disease in which foods cannot be swallowed well, and, even if swallowed, cannot
reach the stomach and, cause the affected person to vomit and not eat for long. The illness can
be cured using "Nurungji.“
As shown above, Nurungji has been used essentially not only for those in poor health but also for
those recovering from diseases. It also means that the water boiled together with Nurungji is
favorably taken in to keep balance inside the body that can be oxidized easily, and to prevent aging
as well.
